In mid July I had an interview for an IRS Special Agent student coop position. When I graduate from college, if I had completed 640 hours of work for the IRS, I convert to a special agent, and start making good money.
Well, it's now November and I still haven't started. I had to get audited, complete a background check, and have a physical done. Physical had some abnormalities, some of you may remember that I thought I might have been dying because I had a bunch of abnormal EKG's. Well, I had an echo done, it was normal, sent that in and figured that was the last of the medical. That was like a one month delay because of the appointments and stuff. It was a fucking nightmare getting a referral to a cardiologist and having an echo done within a month, but that's another story.
Well like 3 weeks later I got a letter saying I wasn't medically qualified because I didn't have perfect corrected vision. Apparently my near vision tested at like 35/25 and it had a limit of 30/25, and they decided not to mention this when I was taking care of the other shit. I had to get a paper from an optometrist saying with correction, I'd have 30/25. I did that and faxed it in THE SAME DAY and that was 3 FUCKING WEEKS AGO! Some asshole just has my paperwork sitting on his desk. All they have to do is look at the simple form from my optometrist, mark me as being cool in their system, and I can start this fucking gig. But everyone I call just passes the buck, and no one know's who to contact.
Problem at this point is that exponential growth is starting to set in. Pay periods are biweekly, and I can only start at the beginning of a pay period. So each time I miss a pay period, it's another 2 week delay which means I have to work exponentially more hours per week in order to meet the 640 requirement before graduation. Monday is the beginning of the next pay period which was when I thought I'd be starting.
I don't have anyone to call and bug, hours required per week are growing exponentially and I'm fucking broke because these clowns are sitting around with my paperwork delaying my start date.
