New Xbox Experience Screenshots Explain Netflix Streaming

Microsoft has supplied a pair of new screenshots from the New Xbox Experience--the dashboard refresh for the Xbox 360 due November 19--showing the console's new Netflix streaming capability in action.

"All Xbox Live Gold members with a Netflix subscription will be able to instantly watch more than 12,000 movies from the Netflix library at no extra charge," writes Microsoft's official Gamerscore Blog.

The blog post added that the Xbox Live Video Marketplace will be included in the overhaul, featuring hi-res box art and detailed information for all of the content available.

The ability to share those videos with online friends was recently delayed from the release of the update and is promised as "coming soon."

When it's added, I think the ability to watch movies together with other Netflix subscribers while chatting through the headset will actually be one of the coolest features imaginable. I can imagine having a shitload of fun watching cult-classics and bad B-movies while people make wisecracks, and everybody having to drink when a certain catch-phase is uttered, etc.

God I wish they would allow Canadians in on this....at least the XBL/Online thing, I don't care about the mailing thing , I just want Netflix on XBL.

I haven't seen any mention of vieo quality in any of there statements to date. Have they released that information?

Hmm, I seem to remember it being announced as you have to have an XBL Gold subscription OR a Netflix subscription, not both.

Kinda sucks since my netflix is currently on hiatus. Bah!
