Amazon: PlayStation 3 Wireless Keypad Priced at $50

Online retailer Amazon has tentatively priced Sony's PlayStation 3 Wireless Keypad at $49.99, according to the company's product page.

Amazon also lists the shipping date for the keypad as November 30, which would place the release on the weekend following Black Friday, the biggest day of the year for US retail sales.

Upon the accessory's unveiling last week, Sony noted that the product would arrive in November, but did not provide an official price point.

Wouldn't be bad for Linux, which I have running on my PS3 via dual boot. Other than that I can't see the use for it. Although it would be nice in games to curse people out like in PC games when they piss you off via typing to other team

Guys just hold your PS2 or 3 controller, arc up a wee bit and you can type.

Really people, it doesn't seem like THAT bad of an idea, and looking at that keybad, it would be an even worse idea to put it on the bottom, you wouldn't be able to get a good grip on the controller since it would be so huge.

Has anyone actually tried one of these? I see them talked about left and right but I have yet to read any first hand impressions... This thing looks so counter intuitivel designed I want to be sure before I can laugh at Sony.

Can't imagine having to reach over the thumbsticks and other buttons is very user friendly. I really like the Xbox 360 keypad down below.

Could have tried a 10 button config that would mimic texting on a cell phone. All you text'ers out there would be golden and it would be much smaller

Wow that's expensive... I'd rather spend $50 more and buy myself a di Novo from Logitech. Looks way better has more functionality and can be used on other bluetooth capable devices.

They should have just released a customized keyboard/mouse set that had special keys for the different buttons on the control. Like the keyboard could have had an extra function row that cross, circle, square, triangle keys and the like. In cames, the mouse buttons could serve as the the trigger buttons or something.

There are a lot of ideas that would be better than what they came up with. =/
