The worldwide release of GSC Game World's post-apocalyptic survival shooter prequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (PC) has been pushed from August 29 to September 5, publisher Deep Silver announced today.

No reason was provided for the brief delay, which accompanied news that the game has gone gold and is now in the manufacturing process.

  • My most looked forward to game of the moment, behind DNF. Which almost doesn't count, nebulous as it seems.

The original Stalker was flawed brilliance, but it had more than enough good stuff for me to look past the faults... The atmosphere it had by the big rusty bucketload counterbalanced all of the immersion nagging problem.

I just GSC take note of what the mod community did with the first Stalker. After playing it with mods, and especially the mod Alive, which introduces territory battles and group migration (in a much more intelligent way than any of the others) I wish I'd never played the vanilla version first.

How the original got out the door with so many glitches and so much development time behind it is beyond me, ambitious as it is, so I'm not too faithful of Clear Sky having the polish the original lacked. We'll see.
