Could use some assistance! I'm taking my wife to NYC for her birthday, will be there this Thursday-Sunday. Pretty excited about it, but not too familiar with the city. Staying at some hotel called Buckingham Hotel two streets south of Central Park on 57th St. Sounds like a good area.
So anywho - I was curious if any of you seasoned locals can give me ideas of things to do, perhaps things off the beaten path, but more essentially - cool A) bars within a decent distance in Manhattan - cool unique hang outs, B) cool shops for the wife (or I?) and C) just general shit to recommend?
Also, we'd be down to meeting other shackers out somewhere for a night? I always follow you fools' opinions on this type of stuff so would love any input anyone has. Thanks!

How do I connect to the server?
load the game, and hit the ` key and type "connect 68.142.120.178" and that should bring you right to the server.
When are you guys playing?
Wednesday nights at 8pm EST, going on until the last person leaves the server.

We’ve got a lot to talk about now that E3 has come and gone, but first we revel in the excitement of Blizzard’s recent Diablo III announcement! Then Elizabeth forces Chris to explain how he got Nintendo to inadvertently announce Pikmin 3 at this years E3. Then we move on to the games, including: Left 4 Dead, Mirror’s Edge, Dragon Age: Origins, Rage, GTA:Chinatown Wars, Microsoft’s new Dashboard design, Too Human, and much more!

I'm housesitting for my mom, and she's got a bit of a rat problem. I'm trying to get rid of them before my mom gets back from vacation, and I'm looking for ideas.
So far I've got the following:
Get a big (3 foot or so) metal trashcan and put some cat/dog food at the bottom with a little 2x4 ramp leading up to it. Rats go in after food, and never come back out. Mwahahaha.
Alternatively, I could just get a few of those little plastic boxes that have a 1-way opening, but I've never had much luck with these.
Also alternatively, I could just let the incoming tropical storm wipe them all out. No house = no rats. Woohoo!
Anyone else have any ideas? I'm not 100% against killing them, but if possible I'd rather be able to dump them in a field several miles away.

I loved Heath's portrayal of the Joker, but watching it the second time made me realize just how well written he was (as well as everyone else). I can't wait to see what they come out with next!

Good evening Shack.
In the continuing tradition of my digging up games I've felt have potential but have been shunned by the collective, I am considering my next project.
First, a note on the Q3 Threewave server: It's been quite a while since anyone has played and with Quake Live now being in beta, I think it's safe to say it was fun but it's time to officially pull the plug.
This leads into my next potential project: An Unreal Tournament 3 server to takes its place.
I've done my fair share of bashing Epic for UT3 (and it's deserved) but I do agree that once you get past the horrible server browser, the game itself is solid and offers multiple ways to play. Although I personally would like to see it available at $15.00, there are several places selling it for about $20 as we speak. Of course, none of this matters if you can't find a decent server to play on. If there is enough interest around here from people who already have it or are willing to pick up a cheap copy, I'd be willing to purchase a copy myself and set up a Shack UT3 server where the old 3wave server was. Electroly has given his blessing to this with the caveat that for a modern game like UT3, it might be able to handle about 18 players max (that's what TF2 could handle on it). So if there's enough interest, I'll do the grunt work of getting shit working, but I'd like an honest showing of how many people would want to play. If I think there's enough people, I'l scrape together the ~$20 or so and get things started.
Comments? Thoughts?
I'm looking for about 20 commitments, Post if interested.

Best Buy is running a promotion in my area right now for 2 years no interest financing on anything in the store. I'm really thinking about getting the 24" iMac. It would be only $80 or so a month to pay it all off in the two years (and I'll probably pay more than that per month just to get it paid off faster).
For some reason, I can't push myself to make a final decision on it, so please convince me Mac shackers. I want it mainly to edit video on Final Cut and some minor picture editing.

Which is more awesome, Shack?
The Russian metal band ANJ's music video of Mikael Gorbachov killing zombies
http://www.vimeo.com/1223566?pg=embed&sec=1223566
OR
Devendra Barnhart and Natalie Portman doing Bollywood

I can't decide which I like more. Although Zombies do give anything an edge over the competition.

My current employer has me doing a lot of things at work, photoshops, media encoding, work files, presentations. The laptop I have can't keep up and has been slowing down my work. With in the next year we will probably upgrade to solidworks or autocad 2008 so I figured a gaming rig would be the best for it.
How loud is this thing going to be though?

I've come across a number of computers over recent weeks where McAfee, NOD32 and Kaspersky have all found viruses that another has missed (and advanced heuristics is enabled on all).. same for Spybot and SUPERAntiSpyware.
So, I was wondering whether there is an anti-virus product that I've missed during my travels, some holy grail of virus killing goodness which will make my life easier!! I could have sworn Kaspersky was supposed to use multiple AV engines but it would seem I'm wrong.. is there such an AV program?
