Leak: Guitar Hero 4 Bundle Costs $180, Includes Touch-sensitive Guitar, Doors and Hendrix Tracks

13
Continuing the assault of leaked information from research firm Intellisponse and NeoGAF's rehosting of its internal documents is word that Guitar Hero World Tour, more commonly known as Guitar Hero 4, will sell in a three-instrument bundle for $180.

In addition to the previously-revealed drum kit, the PS2, PS3, 360 and Wii-bound bundle is said to contain a new guitar, featuring "a touch-sensitive guitar Neck Slide [that] opens up the entire guitar neck for unbound solos," and a microphone.

A number of bands were listed in the documents as well, including Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, KoRn, System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne, Interpol, Muse, along with a tease of "dozens more".

Competing title Rock Band, which emerged from Guitar Hero creator Harmonix last fall, is sold in a $170 three-instrument bundle on 360 and PS3.

Please keep in mind that this information is unconfirmed, and as Intellisponse is a marketing research firm, could very represent market surveys instead of actual facts.

I have enough instruments. Just the game please.
Activision would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't make the game backwards compatible.

Seriously, if they think not allowing cross-compatibility will force people who own Rock Band to buy a second set of fake instruments, they're pretty wrong. I'm assuming they'd make buttloads more money if they allowed people to use RB instruments; I certainly would buy it if this is so.

If they made it backwards compatible, you'd see me buying that game. But right now, I don't care if they even put the Beatles, Zeppelin, or Steely Dan, I'm not buying the damn game.

But the GH instruments are not exactly 1 to 1 exact with Rock Band. The GH drum kit has more things to hit.. and is velocity sensitive... the guitar seems to have similar improvements. So if they actually use these features as key parts of the game (ie they are required) then it wouldn't work anyways.

But honestly.. I don't care. Rock Band is all I really need and these guys are crazy if they think I need another $200 car-sized box of plastic instruments in my little apartment. Fuck that.

I'm happy just buying new songs with Rock Band. I think of Rock Band as a platform... where I keep buying new songs... I'll give them my money that way. They can't keep expecting people to shell out for this crap.

Good lord I agree wholeheartedly. Enough is enough. It's gonna be a sad day if pawn shops start showing up with GH controllers on the walls next to the real guitars.
