Street Fighter 4 Producer Confirms Online Multiplayer

Though Street Fighter IV was announced for home consoles last week, few details were revealed of the game other than a broad winter release window.

Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono remedied the lack of information in a recent issue of gaming magazine Famitsu, telling the Japanese publication that the console edition will include online multiplayer, as well as new characters not seen in the arcade version.

The magazine also detailed two new characters according to according to IGN: Rufus, a rival of Ken, and Seth, whose modified body allows him to input different fighting styles.

Street Fighter IV has been confirmed as a PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release.

I hope there is no hidden charge for playing online on PC. Another 'concept' we can thank consoles for. Pay to play is fine in MMORPG's ONLY!

I am gonna assume it will be free and will have freedom to host servers and all. Also, Ryu v Bison = Hadodead.. bison.

If this game were multi-playform from PC to console it may be the first multi-playerform game where the console gamer has the upper hand over the PC gamer.

Y'all should read up on GGPO. It's a set of netcode that somehow provides virtually lagless (down to 1 frame) gameplay. You can currently emulate quite a few SF titles through it. GGPO.

I'm always wary of fighting games online.. These requires such tight reflexes and such a precisely timed gameplay that the slightest lag ruins everything. What happens when you ping is above 100?
