Quake Wars Developer Partners with Bethesda
by Chris Faylor, May 22, 2008 7:18am PDTBethesda Softworks today announced that it has established a long-term development partnership with Splash Damage, the studio responsible for the class-based multiplayer shooters Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.
No details were provided on the next project from Splash Damage, though Bethesda promises more details will arrive "in the coming months."
The announcement marks the latest business move from Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls series developer Bethesda, which has been expanding its publishing efforts.
"We are extremely impressed with Splash Damage and the quality titles they produce," said Bethesda Softworks president Vlatko Andonov. "They are highly creative and innovative, and have demonstrated a high level of dedication to their projects."

However I don't really think PC gaming is ready for it yet. CoD4 clearly showed that many people still prefer simple and easy to get into multiplayer games.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to see what this partnership will bring.

SD announced a while back that they were working on a new IP of their own, and that they were still looking for a publisher. They appear to have found that publisher in Bethesda.
They're almost certainly not working on a Fallout FPS, or an Elder Scrolls FPS, or an MMOFPS in one of those worlds.
Most people think of Bethesda as a developer only, so it's pretty easy to see where the confusion comes from, but this is similar to hearing that they're partnering with EA and expecting a Madden FPS.
I actually think it would be pretty cool if their April Fools update was real, and they're making a Tapir themed FPS.
