The voice chat functionality comes complete with a wide array of configuration options, such as the ability to test any chatty devices in-game. Other changes include 7.1 speaker support, smarter bots, a threaded renderer that increases quad core processor performance, user interface improvements, and an overall greater general stability.
The patch also modifies the game's weapon damage based on statistics and user feedback. As a result, the pistol and blaster have become more accurate, and the shotgun and nailgun now has a faster rate of fire.
No specific date was provided for the patch, though the Wedgewood notes that it is finished and undergoing testing at publisher Activision. He also revealed that the studio has already begun work on the 1.3 patch and is putting the final touches on its Software Developers Kit.
This setup mirrors the game's international release schedule, which saw it hit Europe last Friday and ship to stores in North America today in regular and limited edition varieties. The Steam edition will be priced at $49.95, marking a savings of $0.04 over the standard edition's $49.99 MSRP.

Retailers will carry both a $49.99 regular and $59.99 limited edition with the limited edition including a premium slipcase, bonus DVD, and ten collectible cards. There's no word yet on a release date for Nerve Software's Xbox 360 version, Z-Axis' PlayStation 3 version, or Aspyr's Mac version.
