Of course news of the week is Grand Theft Auto 4, and we've made a special little place for everyone to chat up about that fine piece of software. If you're looking for people to run amok in Liberty City with, or just go over the more subtle points.
In other news, Shacker PenicillinX57 points out that PC MMO Stargate: Worlds is now accepting beta sign-ups, so if you're looking for the next big thing then give that a shot. Also, I should have a fresh and in your face contest later on today, so if you like shooters then you just might be our type of person.

- Invitations have been sent to everyone who posted in the previous threads. If you did not get an invite, please post your steam profile page here (again, sorry!) or shackmessage me a link to your page. Be sure to let me know if you want east or west division.
- If you get tagged as Probationary Add: You either have a low post history, or low TF2 hours played, or both. I have concerns about your committment. We had issues with people signing up to the last tournament and then not showing up. I need each of you to respond to the SM I sent. If you dont respond, I know you dont really want to play. Also, I am going to run a couple "probation" sessions on the ShackWest server, after captains are selected, so you can show off your skills. ALSO, probation can be removed if you get another Shacker with lots of post count and TF2 playtime to Vouch for you! Or your captain from the last tournament!
- I have terminated probation on a number of people already. please check the previous threads.
- If you signed up in the previous tournament, you will not be allowed to participate if you were not an active participant. I will send you a shackmessage if this is the case.
- You must be committed to playing. Dont sign up if you just think you might play, if there isnt something better going on. You are part of a team.
- Matches will be scheduled for every Sunday (Time in the evening, most likely 7pm Eastern/Pacific depending on division).
- Please indicate East or West division in your reply.
- If you are in the Central/Mountain area, or elsewhere. it is up to you to decided which division you want to play. The game time will be earlier or later than 7pm depending on which division you choose!
- Rules, Maps, Etc are all still TBD. (but Goldrush will be played for certain!)
- Deadline to sign up EXTENDED to MAY 9
- interestingly we are almost even in East vs. West sign ups. Ideally each could use about 20 more players each (not sure if we'll get that, but we can try!)

This is a primetime showing of a major blockbuster on a Sat, and it's fair to say there'll be a good number of us there, so I think it's best to show up buttfuckin early in order to get tickets/seats. And, well, there's something that's been nagging at me for some time, as you may well know, I am something of a computer hardware enthusiast, I have a multitude of machines, mostly relatively modern.. I have Xeons, I G4's, I have an Opteron, I have an A64, and I have the machine I'm presently writing this up on, which is a Core 2 Duo E8400, a 3Ghz processor which I run, with the aid of a big heatsink, at 4Ghz..
And, well, there's no easy way to say this, so I'll just summon up some courage and say it.

The reasons i find are the following :
1] Sharing o information cannae be controlled. [ anything that can be transformed into mobile data cannae have boundries that are workable. ]
2] Desire o the people to acquire/pursue something cannae be controlled except through careful and long term awareness/propaganda [ it simply cannae be done through force or by making something illegal/creating a new law ]
Music was always free when there was no way to transfer data. People had to watch musicians live, there were no cassette tapes/lp's/dvd-a's. There were in fact, no record companies. Same with the movies. People had to go to a theatre to watch a show. It was not available on bluray and dvd's couldnae be rented.
This sort o changeover includes books, people had to buy them or read them at libraries, now they can get it online and print it themselves.
Also, none o these things had any money value to begin with. The value in terms o moolah was applied to them by the people who wanted to market and sell the items. Its just going back to status quo ante.
Its a losing battle fer all these companies that publish movies/music/books/games and other similar stuff which can be recorded, transferred to some data storage device or transferred online.
There is absolutely no way in hell this sort o information transfer could be prevented and this is basically, information.
The final nail is struck by the morality part o it. While such a huge hue and cry is raised by the companies about illegal broadcasting/lending/copying, it is a net they are casting on knowledge and the transfer o knowledge. The argument o stealing is futile against it. Everyone has the freedom to acquire any information they want because information is progress. Once knowledge is imprisoned, progress is stifled. If tomorrow, people are able to instantly grow their own vegetables/fruits by just having some information or recreate any automobile they want utilizing 3d printers/machines using blueprints, that cannae be controlled, but companies would want to, and that is blatantly leaning toward opression. Decentralization is happenning and will be unstoppable.

Lovely program indeed. I've got 3 emails, Facebook updates, along with my ICQ, MSN, and AIM accounts, all being updated in my taskbar tray. Best thing about it tracking my emails, is when I hover over the specific account icon with new mail in it, it pops up a preview, and I can mark as read, delete, open inbox, right there in that box.

I still have a strong suspicion that a large margin of home-theatre consumers that are using a HI-DEF DVD player are strong supporters of the technology because they have invested so much money in an HD-TV and a library of new format DVDs.

I go into the folder to check out wtf is up, and notice something extremely weird. Screencaps of the desktop. A lot of them. 110,000 of them. All small file size, and it has a single folder in this directory: logs. The only log in the logfile reads: "(timestamp) : C:\windows\sscrg.exe started as None"
I just looked up on that exe and its some fucked up spyware. Oh man, this poor guy :(
