Furthermore, the "just play TF2" crap is also stupid. Does TF2 have vehicles? Huge environments? Then it's not Battlefield, and it's not the same game. Some people can play one, and some can play the other. Don't take it as a threat if people do not want to play your game of choice. Be happy playing your game, and let other people play what they want, and shut up about it.
I have my own concerns about the game--particularly the fact that it's third person. I'm also a bit worried about these powerups that DICE has mentioned. I hesitate to speculate more on the subject, though since I don't really know how all that is going to work, and I haven't played the game.
So please, I implore you, shut up. Talk about the potential gameplay. Talk about the pricing model and the possibly annoying pregame advertisements. Talk about the (so far) apparently limited variety of vehicles (two planes, two tanks, jeeps) and the very small number of initial maps. But please, shut up about who is copying who. You don't know that they copied anyone, and if they did, it doesn't matter anyway.

I won't be intellectually dishonest and say that the success of TF2 had nothing to do with DICE bringing it back but just keep in mind its not a 100% rip-off either.

When the last trailer came out and it had the Normandy landing and the record scratch a lot of people got up in arms saying how it was disrespectful etc. I wasn't one of those people. I thought saying, "There are completely serious WW2 games, this one isn't." I was fine with that.
However, this trailer hit me differently. I'm not sure what it was..I think it was the character designer (and some of the characters you can design.) If you're going to make it a clown-show slapstick thing, where most the people don't even look like they belong, why did they make it WW2 themed at all. They could have made it just 'war' themed, and have modern and future weapons intermingled with old weapons.
I guess I'm not really TOO upset, but the 'this is wrong' warning just started beeping as I was watching the trailer.

And a little bone for the wankers: this looks a lot better/funner than TF2. Personally I have not given Valve a penny since HLe1, have just deleted all my downloaded/bought content (from years ago) and will be uninstalling that pile of Steam in a few hours.

Yes, it's pretty clear that EA is trying to capitalize on the superficiality of people by making their game cartoony, to make it familiar to fans of TF2, but the games, like Quake Wars and Battlefield, will be fundamentally different when actually played, and isn't that more important than the game's look? The gameplay... Yes, still essentially shooters, but if this had a modern combat theme. A realistic theme, then the debate would not exist.
Remember the saying "don't judge a book by its cover"?
As for the way the game's points system will work? Have you ever played a game like Gunbound? Or Albatross18? You buy upgrades, costumes, weapons, and various items with either real money, or 'game money'. And while many could be procured with both money or points, there will likely be items exclusive to each category. Ok, I'll stop now before I get too into this because I know someone will feel the need to say "But..." and draw up the most outlandish response to try and exploit faults, etc, etc, etc semantic acrobatics, so forth, and on and on.

I love TF2, I play it daily. And I think this game looks fantastic. It looks like a lot of fun and I can't wait to get it (for FREE).
