It's going to take the weekend for it to rebuild its performance data, but I will say that the shell is a hell of a lot more responsive. WinKey-E immediately brings up an Explorer window instead of it taking a half-second. Visual Studio 2008 launches in half the time it used to after a cold boot, although it now takes longer for it to close for some reason...go figure.

What are your noticable differences? For me, network file transfers & unzipping seems to be faster, shell response is snappier, and the OS just generally feels more responsive. TF2 framerates are the same, and I don't get the fucking HL2.exe crash after exit anymore either. I'm not sure whether or not a TF2 patch or SP1 fixed it, but horray.
Great success or monumental FAIL with your SP1 install?

PC gaming is so dead (CliffyB) that Best Buy has what looks like two great prebuilt (for those who don't want to build their own) Gateway computers front and center.
I hope this finally kills that theory that pc gaming hardware is expensive. I'm looking at a 17" laptop and a pc with a 22" lcd each for $1200 and includes 1 free pc game of your choice. For a prebuilt computer FROM Best Buy with what looks like very nice gaming components that is a pretty good deal IMHO.
Hell, IM very interested in that laptop. :)
If your poor but can guarantee you can pay it off in 18months take advantage of Best Buys no interest for 18months on all pc purchases $700 and up.

I just got done playing badlands and didn't even realize which map I was playing it was so different...I at first thought I was playing the wrong map. Every TF2 remake Valve has "recreated" (the exception being 2fort) is so completely different from the original they don't even deserve being called the name of the original map. Badlands is NOT EVEN CLOSE to the original map, and I am so throughly crestfallen. Butchering Well was already unforgivable, and then they go and butcher Badlands? Not only did they butcher it, they made it suck.
Please, valve, if you are going to revive old maps, at least be true to them.

We would like to have signups completed by the end of this week plus two opening games played by Tuesday-ish. We need to get the word out and get the players that can commit to identify themselves. This is important because once you pick a league team count, we cannot alter it for late additions. This is a limit placed on us by 2kSports, not some arbitrary rule.
I am expecting ~10-12 players, but we can handle so much more if there's interest, but we need to know about it early. Get the word out to all potential players and get them to post.
*So... If you like football and the best football simulation game on the market right now, can commit to playing only two 45 minute games a week for the next 4 weeks, and aren't gonna flake out on us. We need to hear from you.*
Please don't say you'll show when you won't, you know yourself better than we do. Because these leagues require participation from all players, we can't afford to be waiting days for someone to sign up, it literally holds up the entire league.
If you are willing to commit, please reply with I'll play and edit yourself into the wiki just to easily identify yourselves. I'll need very firm head count by late Thursday.

I've got a few questions that someone can hopefully answer.
1. Is there a way to select ALL your combat units from the solar system view?
2. Is there a way to tell if you have too many research buildings? if you have 9,10,11+?
3. Is there a good breakdown of what techs are good? I research stuff and sometime it seems like it has no effect

Allright folks, I want to do two things here. I keep seeing a lot of posts from people who have dabbled in an old Quake 2 Mod called LMCTF. So, I have supplied a full upload of a LMCTF Tournament CD I was given as it has nostalgic demos (LMCTF and some 1v1 stuff like Thresh vs Immortal) as well as ALL the appropriate files you need to play LMCTF -- providing you have Quake 2.
So, with that being said...who wants to get a LMCTF Shackbattle going? If anyone is willing to run a server that would be the most amazing thing ever and I would probably play on it almost nightly. Files below:

I watched the animated movie earlier tonight. After reading the IMDB forums I knew I was going to be disappointed.
But, it actually wasn't that bad. Look past the Shitty animation/art and the story IS there.
I emailed Margret Weis about 10 years ago and kinda laid out how a movie could be made in a pretty damn long email. She kinda confirmed to me that a movie was being made. Who would have known it would be Wizards of the Coast and knock off animation...
How did they get Kiefer to do the voice of Raist? I wonder if he was a fan or he owed someone a favor, they couldn't have possibly paid him.
Overall, I'd recommend the film to anyone who's read the books. I can't say if I"d recommend it to someone who hasn't - someone who has read the books can look past its short comings , i would Not want to introduce someone to the Dragonlance universe through this movie.
also, I do hope they finish off the Chronicles trilogy. it was kinda enjoyable watching the film and remembering stuff from the books. The did a decent job with my favorite character, Tasselhof.

Barnes & Noble shrinkwraps books that have "adult content" to protect the children. I went into Barnes & Noble this last week to pick up "Gunsmith Cats: Revised Edition" volume 1 & 2. Both have "18+" printed on the back, but volume 2 was shrinkwrapped and volume 1 was not.
In volume 1, you have an underage girl graphically fellating a guy to get access to a brothel for undercover work and multiple sex scenes.
In volume 2, there is no sex, but it was shrinkwrapped because unlike in volume 1...you see bush. No genitals, just pubic hair.

Last night, my wonderful girlfriend told me to go buy a monitor for myself. I've decided on this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009108 for a few reasons. Price point, size, and resolution. I would go bigger, however my desk just couldn't hold anything larger.
I haven't had any experience with Acer LCD's, are they any good? The NewEgg reviews don't look too bad, but I just need an outside opinion before I "pull the trigger".
