Metal Gear Solid Compilation Due on March 18
by Aaron Linde, Feb 05, 2008 1:09pm PSTKonami has announced Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection for the PlayStation 2, confirming a March 18 release with Shacknews.
Covering the entirety of the series' PSX and PS2 appearances, the collection includes the original Metal Gear Solid and the director's cuts of its PS2 sequels Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.
Selling for $29.99--well below the titles' current aftermarket prices--the games will be bundled in a special edition box with new commemorative artwork by series character designer Yoji Shinkawa. The inclusion of Metal Gear Solid marks the first retail release of a PSX title in more than three years.

Makes it sound like they are just throwing all of these games in a box together, not on a compilation disc type deal. That's a shame. I'd absolutely love to play a director's cut of the original MGS that Konami and Kojima actually had a hand in doing. No team that has been hired to port that game to another system has done it justice.
Also since this is a Metal Gear SOLID set I would not expect to see any of the MSX/NES games here.
