Crysis Patch Update
by Maarten Goldstein, Dec 22, 2007 7:24am PSTSoon after the release of Crysis, a patch was announced as coming within two weeks. Those two weeks long since past, Crytek has finally sent out an update on the situation.
According to Crytek, good progress was being made until the company ran into "heavy technical issues" right before the final build. Though an updated version of the patch has been created, Crytek and EA quality assurance teams won't get to it before the first week of January. Crytek hopes that the patch will make it out soon after.
While that first patch only features performance updates and bug fixes, a second patch is being worked on simultaneously. This patch will incorporate fan feedback and introduce new single-player and multiplayer features. Once that patch has been released, the SDK will become available as well.

I really enjoyed the game. It has a good developing story, excellent voice acting, the music was incredible, and I loved the open style of play that was offered up until the last 1/3 of the game, which was unfortunately pretty much on a rail.
It crashed on me once during the Core level, and aside from some pretty horrid tearing at the docks area of Assault, I had no other technical problems with the game except maybe the physics. A slow rolling barrel bumped into my once, resulting in a instant death which annoyed me a bit. Then of course there are the senseless and random deaths later near the end of the game from stuff falling out of the sky and landing on you. That sort of sucked.
All things considered, I was quite happy with the game. It's unfortunate a lot of you are having worse problems than I encountered, and I do hope the patch lets you experience this great game.

And im mostly concerned about dx9. from what i can tell dx10 barely looks different and is 15% slower.
New single player content? I hope they add a couple of levels -- the last third of the game is completely on rails. It would be nice if they stretched out the free-roaming experience a little more somewhere in the middle.

What got on my nerves more was the random hitches that really seemed to just have no rhyme or reason. Id get like a mini-stutter-load alot kinda like I didnt have enough ram... but im pretty sure it should be alright with 2 gigs.
