GameStop Details Wii Reservation Program

Mega-gaming retailer GameStop has provided a few more details on the Wii reservation program that Nintendo of America mentioned last week, which is meant to help holiday shoppers acquire the elusive system.

For one day and one day only--this Friday, December 21--those who pre-pay for a $249.99 Wii at GameStop, in full and while supplies last, will be guaranteed a unit in January.

To commemorate the occasion, customers will be given a special case containing what GameStop refers to as a "guarantee slip". A phone call will notify them when the Wii itself arrives in-store.

Of course, some restrictions apply. The vouchers are only valid at the store they were purchased at--they cannot be transfered to another location-- and the system must be picked up by January 25.

This is such fucking bullshit, this shortage is such a crock. People need to stop feeding this artificial shortage and Nintendo will eventually get it and just put the fucking systems on the shelves. The whole thing disgusts me.

Calm down people! Here is the deal:

Jane Doe requires a Wii for her offspring/nephews&nieces/adopted children IN TIME for Christmas. She isn't going to get anything thing else but she can't just say you can have a Wii on Christmas morning to her dependents. Thus she gives them a guarenteed Christmas Gift Certificate for a Wii that can be physically given.

HA! watch this... this whole thing has got fail written all over it... "we will get you your system on tuesday for a 250+ dollar today." I swear if wimpy was around he'd be bumming hamburgers from all the suckers shelling out money for a system... can wait for them to say whoops we underestimated how many we "really" needed so the date of pick is now the 12th of never....two thousand never ever.

i gotta say, im pretty happy about the shortage. Months ago this would've been an impulse buy based on the hype alone. Now? There are 3 games i think i'd like to play on the Wii and that doesn't justify putting up with this nintendo shortage crap.

Well, this may be my only chance at getting a Wii, since I am totally unwilling to pay someone over $280 for a Wii out of personal preference.
