Uncharted PS3 Hits Stores Early

8
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the first PlayStation 3 title from Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter creator Naughty Dog, has shipped to stores a few days in advance of its official November 19 release.

Shacknews can confirm that GameStop stores in North America are receiving the treasure-hunting game and selling it today.

Rumors of an early release for the treasure-hunting game began circulating late last week. At the time, Sony informed Shacknews that the game was not to receive an early release a la Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction (PS3).

Be sure to check back with Shacknews in a few days for our take on the final game, but feel free to scope out our past interview and hands-on impressions in the mean time.

This is how games should be released. When it's done, tell everyone, send it out, and let the stores sell it once it's released. What's the point of finishing a game sending it out, and the letting it cooking for weeks while street dates get broken and paranoia sweeps the forums.

      Agreed.

Typically, cooking for weeks is actually the time spent getting it manufactured and shipped to stores.

Also, if you have a big marketing/PR push prepared, you want everything to hit at once...not just trickle out.

Yea. Plus it kinda sucks from a consumer standpoint when you have to hunt from store to store to find a copy of the damn game because shipping schedules are bullshit.
