Team Fortress 2 on 360 Gets Patched

12
The patch addressing multiplayer lag issues in Valve's Xbox 360 version of Team Fortress 2 is now available and will be automatically downloaded from Xbox Live's servers upon starting the game. Valve said a patch would be available soon after the release of The Orange Box (PC, PS3, X360) when some gamers complained of spotty online play in the console version of Valve's team-based shooter.

Though some haven't experienced problems with the 360's Team Fortress 2, gamers in the title's Xbox.com forum have voiced mixed feelings about the patch, saying the game still suffers from lag after the update.

Orange Box 360 owners, feel free to comment on your own troubles or trouble-free experiences in playing Team Fortress 2 over Xbox Live.

I had a lot of lag prior to the patch.. I have a lot of lag after the patch. I do however feel that this issue is mainly caused by people with craptastic net connections hosting games when they really shouldn't be.

If it's their net code how come the pc version is so lag free? You know it's the exact same code right?

I doubt it, the 360 version is likely peer-to-peer. Halo3 got it right, but it was designed for it.

it could be host / client like a lot of games. in this case the host is a listen server, and it wouldn't require a huge overhaul of the current netcode used in the PC game.

You cant host a 16 player game over a cable/dsl connection, there isnt enuff upload.

it works for maybe 2v2, 4v4 if youre daring.

Halo has elementary physics and systems compared to Source.

              hahaha, WHAT?!

i dont' see how you can compare the physics of tf and h3...

bungie spent ALOT of time on h3 MP...

the 360 version of orange box probably got about 1/5th of the polish time that h3 received.

and it still turned out as awful as it did? that's sad.
actually in all fairness it's the people that make halo3 mp horrible more than anything.

Its lag free on my Fios connection with 16 players. It is indeed what the first poster said.. People hosting with shitty connections.
