I've never played a DMC game but keep thinking I should try them as I've liked similar games. I was put off picking up the original PS2 DMC as I heard the PAL version was somewhat b0rked (I don't know how true that was but there was a big fuss about it at the time it came out), and then I heard DMC2 wasn't very good in general (again, I don't know how true that is but I've seen it said a bunch of times).

I think DMC3 is on Steam for the PC so I could check that out but it looks kinda dated now and the review I read didn't make it sound outstanding. Is it worth checking out or should I pass?

I love games like God of War 1/2, Ninja Gaiden (the newer one, not the 8-bit one), Resident Evil 4, and so on. DMC is a bit like those, right?

I loved the original DMC, was one of my favorite games back when it came out. DMC2 suffered from all the attention the original had attracted and really was just a bad game, IMO. I hated the 2nd game so much it totally turned me away from the franchise, and I never got around to even attempting DMC3. With all the media of DMC4 arriving, I'm starting to feel and urge and give DMC3 a shot, it did do a lot better than 2 from what I've seen and heard.

And yeah it's similar to the NG, Onimusha, and so on.

Out of the little I've played of Ninja Gaiden I'd say it's close to it. Only with guns.

Yeah, DMC has a significant amount of style. My suggestion is to go back and play DMC-1 -- it might look a tad dated, but it's still very much worth playing.

Everything I've heard about DMC-2 says to skip it, and proceed directly to DMC-3 (Special Edition). I'll probably try and pick up the 5th Anniversary Edition, which has DMC-1/2/3 (SE) in one package.

What's up nude, if you've never played the original DMC your missing out on a great game. Its the basis for the entire series of DMC. With all the different difficulty modes of the game ranging from easy, normal, hard, very hard, and dante must die mode i think you would find it somewhat challenging. And the reward for beating Dante Must Die mode is worth the challenge. DMC 2 was ok i didn't care for it as much. Capcom kind of strayed away from its oringal DMC 1 make. But they returned to its normal and incredible exciting gameplay and storyline in DMC 3. Its a hell of a game series. So dont waste any more time on debating with yourself and what you hear out there. The DMC Cry series is like no other.
