Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts Goes Gold, Arrives Later This Month
by Chris Faylor, Sep 12, 2007 8:43am PDTRelic Entertainment's Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts has hit gold status. Publisher THQ declined to pin down an exact ship date, but expects the game to bombard stores later this month--an earlier release than the November estimate Nick Breckon mentioned in his detailed impressions. Published by THQ, the standalone expansion to Relic's acclaimed PC WWII RTS Company of Heroes includes two new armies, each with their own campaign, DirectX 10 support, mission persistence, improved AI and physics, and a dynamic weather system. Though the first Company of Heroes is not required, the two releases interface to provide new multiplayer options.
"Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts is a massive game," Relic general manager Tarrnie Williams confidently stated. "We've consistently redefined the standard for excellence in the RTS genre over the last five years, and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts represents another leap forward in technology and strategic gameplay."

The original November release date was more logical. This feel rushed under THQ's orders.

I am a CoH diehard and I missed the Beta Key handout. I cannot wait for this to be released!
lol this game isnt even anywhere near balanced, the netcode is horrible, and the performance is horrible.

/after winning an awesome 2 svs 2, with american & british vs the Horde.. i mean the Panzer Elite, finishing 22-0 in the VP score.
So it doesn't matter so much that the game is gold now, as the singleplayer campaign is most assuredly done, and the multiplayer part can still take changes up until release day.
Question is, will it be balanced like it needs to be that day? Can only hope, as there's a LOT that needs to be balanced until then. Here's hoping for some love for the vanilla factions (Wehrmacht especially, as usual).
I haven't even finished Bioshock, and now ET:QW, CoH: OF, Orange Box and Crysis are due out in short order.
