This year's Game Developers Conference will once again host a performance of Video Games Live, a series of symphonic concerts highlighting music from decades of video game soundtracks. Today, event organizers announced that the GDC show will feature several acclaimed musical guests performing live. Longtime Nintendo composer Koji Kondo, known for his work on franchises such as Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, and many others, will be performing an unspecified piece, noted to be "one of his favorite melodies." LucasArts' former trio of composers--Michael Land, Peter McConnel, and Clint Bajakian--will also be present to perform an acoustic medley of music from games such as Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, and Outlaws. "There is clearly no game music more recognizable around the world than the themes that Mr. Kondo has created over the years," said event co-creator Tommy Tallarico. "What an incredible honor to have such a true legend in the gaming world join us on stage to celebrate video game music and the wonderful industry surrounding it." Other special guests include Chris "vertexguy" Kline performing music from Contra, Martin "Video Game Pianist" Leung performing a medley of music, and voice actor Dee Baker (Baldur's Gate, Viewtiful Joe, Halo 2, Kingdom Hearts) giving a demonstration on stage. Tickets are currently available. The show is scheduled for March 9th at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium on Friday, March 9. It will also feature a "Meet and Greet" session with the special guests in attendance.
