Lastly, dont forget to check out that HD Gears of War video! I'm starting to actually become a little eager for an XBox360. I would be eager for a PS3 but I've got no idea what the heck to really expect.

That FEAR demo sure is freaky/hard

the AI sucked for me BUT I had it set to easy. not much to expect from them then, eh? I hope they'll be better on the harder settings, and not just have weapon damage increased. they did some cool stuff... until I ceased doing stuff. I just sat on the stairs so that I could just barely get a shot or two off whenever they sidestepped, but could see a larger area. seems railings make for decent cover... anyway, they basically just kept leaping through the window. out of the booth, fire, sidestep, into the booth, sidestep, ouf ot the booth... wth? but as I said I'll attribute it to the difficulty setting (I know I'm a wuss, but I wanted to try it mainly for atmosphere, not combat)
I read every single spoiler in the f.e.a.r. comments and considered myself well prepared and well hardcore. the doom3 demo was as scary as a stratholme 5-man run, no movie besides the ring ever scared me even a bit (okay, "who framed roger rabbit" did when I was 10), and I go to the basement alone at night.
I ended up using eight save slots, each labelled something along the lines of "damn" "nonononono" "oh fuck"...
also I probably wasted more shots on fettel's apparition after the "ladder incident" than any of you combined.
I don't really want to go into more detail... let's just say I felt a little uneasy. thou shalt not fuck with the player's mind while he's still trying to come to terms with the controls, alright?
performance was really good. I only played at 800x600 but with everything besides FSAA and soft shadows on and it was thoroughly playable at all times. just not in the intro when they show all those mind controlled soldiers and at the very end when the behemoth breaks through the window, but maybe that wasn't bad framerate but a design decision?
3,2GHz P4, 2GB RAM, ati x600 (set to "quality" in the control center)
but yeah, it was HELLA short.
I need to have the full game asap. having me scared is quite a rare accomplishment, and I love it. plus I neeeed to know the entire story.
