First Post!

Everyone's talking about the new Battlestar Galactica series these days, and I'm really interested in seeing it. It's coming to Dutch TV some time this year, but that probably means in October or so. I watch maybe two or three shows these days, it would be nice to have some good sci-fi as well.

Management, LOL. *cough* I mean, we're all professional around here.

Battlestar is the new hotness. Like a war movie in space.

I can't say the miniseries did anything for me.

I say you're ignoring the incredible effects they did create, to reach an unlikely conclusion that the human-cylons are a money saving device and do not add to the show. :/

FFS there's shitloads of CGI in the mini-series and so far in the series - and yes there are metallic cylons featured, and fought against.

Well, the first impression wasn't very favorable on me. If my roommate ever gets the eventual DVD on netflix maybe I'll check it out. Shackhype usually isn't TOO far off, although some people here inexplicably like Aqua Teen.

Also, I didn't like the shaky cam during the space battles. I mean... it's not even a real camera, why is it shaking? Are they trying to cover up poorly coreographed battle sequences?

please do not watch the new BSG anymore. whoa, you're just going to hate on it regardless, I can tell.

I remembered, there were cylons with human-like behavior in the 1st series too, BTW - the pointy headed "leader" cylons in the robes, that were always working with that serie's Baltar? The chrome soldiers were total drones, while the leader cylons were the ones who showed the hatred of humanity, who showed they had the abilty to conspire and betray, and even showed fear at times.

Personally I love the decisions made in the editing of the battle sequences - it's very reminiscent of battlefield footage or documentary footage. I dont find it hard to follow, and I laugh at the idea that it's made that way to cover shoddy work. Heh, yeah right that shakyness only ramps up when there is an action/battle sequence and most of the time there are plenty of calmer shots where you can clearly see the quality of the CG.

I'm not saying it was total crap. It had some redeeming elements, I'm just suprised at the near universal love it's getting on the shack. I'm assuming the series is better than the miniseries?

I'm a fan of how they use the shakey cam. It something thats easy to over use, but I think they use it just enough for you to get the feel that you are watching live footage.

For an example of how NOT to use a shakeycam see Bourne Supremacy.
