Can anyone recommend a decent colour printer that isn't too slow or noisy, and is relatively cheap? I suppose cartridge costs factor into it too?

  If you want cheap color printing, and you're concerned about the cost of consumables, you should consider color laser. Yes, the machine itself is more expensive up front, but the cost-per-page is MUCH lower in the long run. Those color inkjets are so cheap to sucker you in, and then they charge you a shitload for the ink cartridges.

  I got mine for around $300 by pulling a rebate switcheroo, redeeming a large rebate on the same item purchased through Sam's Club, (Normally, you can either buy it at a lower price at some stores, or pay more elsewhere and use the rebate; I did both by gaming the system.)
