Exit Wounds was bareable. Maybe they should hold off on these Video Game movies until GOOD directors are willing or available. Someone should murder UWE BOLL btw.

Can we just clone David Fincher? Like, several times? What about Chris Cunningham? He would be perfect for this. Why would this be made 'on the cheap'?
After this news, I'm waiting for the Duke Nukem movie to be the first decent video game/movie conversion... at least the game has a campy sense of humor fitting to the shitty quality of video game/movie adaptations.-
The film is being made "on the cheap" because the people financing the film and the studios do not believe in top notch quality. They believe in making a passable film for as little money as possible, maximizing their profit margin. A filmmaker like the ones you mentioned would want much more control than producers or a studio would afford them. Do you realize how many projects those filmmakers turn down because they cannot see eye to eye with the people above them?
Anyway, this film is being made on the cheap in eastern europe with a director for hire. That should tell enough about what level of quality you should expect. Consider anything more or better as a pleasent surprise.
