It's the moment you've all been waiting for, DOOM 3 HAS GONE GOLD! According to Todd H's .plan update, the official U.S. release date is August 5, Europe will get it several days after that.

Yes, this is the official word that DOOM 3 has been code released and has been approved for manufacturing! It won't be long now until the anticipation ends and the PH34R begins ;-) We literally just hung up with Activision and have confirmed that our latest release candidate has been mutually approved and is finally GOLD. Thanks to everyone for their patience (yeah right! =) and for everyone at id, Activision and our numerous partners for helping us create what I believe is absolutely the best game we have ever made. ...
In case you need some media to keep yourself entertained until August here are screenshots and videos. UPDATE: Here is the official press release and the UA-CORP website has been updated with a timer counting down to the estimated retail release. CNN Money reports there will be no DVD version.

  • I'm just going to post this because I'm lonely. But Doom 3 exceeded my expectations in every way. The atmosphere it created throughout the entire game was fucking awesome. The sense of reality that the game created with the environments and sound has yet to be beaten. Sure the levels were repetetive. That was the point. This is a base on mars, what the fuck do you want? Wherever I was running in the game, It all felt connected. It all felt like it had some significance to everything else. Sure there were illogical things here and there. But what big-time movie/game doesn't have those kind of things? It wasn't enough to take me out of the experience. And I'm pretty picky withmy games, as well as movies and music.
