TRON 2.0 on DVD?
by Maarten Goldstein, Jun 17, 2003 7:39am PDTAccording to German site MCV Online, Monolith's TRON 2.0 will be released on DVD (shoddy translation by Google), as a way of additional copy protection. It's not entirely clear if this is just in Europe or the US as well. Metal Gear Solid Substance was another PC game recently released on DVD. TRON 2.0 will ship August 26. Thanks Gamer.nl.

$25 LG electronics 16x DVD-rom..
Damn that thing is a steal! What are people complaining about with DVD-rom prices again? Oh I forgot, they are complaining about the lack of games... wait.. by that logic a CDROM was a poor investment years ago too!

true dvd's can hold more, but only computers made since about 2000 or have em standard and as a result you can miss out on a lot of revenue by not offering cd's

Also, I got my Lite-On DVD-ROM for $15 last summer so I really don't see any reason to be without the ability to read DVDs on your PC at this point. I look forward to seeing more games put out on DVD instead of having to swap CDs.

To be honest, why would I even bother buying a DVD for a PC? Standalone player or PS2 on a 32" TV is still better than 19" monitor.
I'm somewhat doubtful it will be DVD only in North America, that would just be foolish.
