quote from PCG article: Of course, they won't show any of the environments. Instead, Software Developer Josh Weier fires up a level with actual gameplay, which likely won't exist in its current form in the final game. [...] The scene takes place inside a jail, with multiple alien attackers and soldiers fighting it out.
Other interesting stuff:
All levels will also be broken into smaller chunks to make load times short, much like the original.

Spider sense is telling me they will have boxes available since people still have modems...

This game is still very mysterious to me, and I'm sure plenty of you. A few screenshots and a totally new engine...I'm just a little worried. There are some things about the game that are revealed, and those leave me with a slightly...bad taste in my mouth.
This game's played mostly in a European-style city? uhm....I don't see many good gameplay elements deriving from that.
You joined the G-Man? So now your enemy is just the aliens (who weren't that original to begin with)? Not that exciting.
What's your goal? That hasn't been stated yet.
The element of sidekicks doesn't feel very half-life like. It feels more like they're trying to expand upon all the wrong elements of the original game.
Now--don't get me wrong. I'd love to see something new and original, and this game certainly doesn't look like much else I've seen, but it doesnt' feel like half-life, and I think that disappoints me a little bit.
I think I trust Valve though, and I think they know what they're doing, but from my perception of the game at this point, I could be a lot less disappointed.

If one can believe the comments, some people knew about this for a few months, which is likely cause they prepared a demo in September 2002 (source: PCG article). Side note: Impressive. They whipped up a game in the same time it took me to complete a schoolyear.
But wow. Did everyone have to sign an NDA or something? I can't imagine doing work and not able to tell anyone! Well, if it cost me my job I might ;)

Okay, it's approx 3 weeks to e3, and we know for sure it will be shown in whatever form at e3 (high quality video released to the net, please valve!)
But everyone keeps saying the NDA for Half Life 2 is up on the 28th as if it's a big deal or something, I know what an NDA is but what exactly does this mean for us?
It's not like it's going to suddenly mean on the 28th that it's okay to post scans of magazines or anything. Does it mean that certain gaming websites (the likes of gamespy, ign, gamespot etc.) have also seen the game and also have their own previews that will hit the net when they are able to on the 28th?
Or does it mean that a big press release is expected to come out of valve announcing the game properly, maybe launching half-life2.com and announcing the publisher (possibly with some nice high res screenshots not scanned off a magazine)?
Or does it mean that people in the industry who happen to know more about the game than we ourselves do, are allowed to speak publically about that they have seen after the 28th?

What the heck is up with Condition Zero? If they plan to release a game with an old Half-life engine that isn't going to work very well in my opinion.

They said they would have model collision or something like that.
And what about the crappy light border? It's worse then freakin HL 1.
And don't forget his gun's shadow is missing also.

I don't see how there is ANY skeptisism. Its not like they haven't released a title before.
