Late Night Consoling

65

So hopefully you don't all hate me too much for this afternoon's April Fool's gag. We just had a little bit of fun with you there. Last year's gag was so over the top that this time around I wanted to make it a little bit more believable...and it looks like some of you fell for it. For what it's worth, I really do think a licensed GTA: Sin City would be awesome. Provided, of course, that it was in glorious black and white, and cel-shaded, or at least extremely stylized. But it ain't gonna happen. Or...probably not, anyway.

More Console Gags Today everybody's a comedian, and console pages were no exception. Here's a rundown of today's console-related geekery: IGN has a story about the George Forman GBA SP and a story announcing that Nintendo has traded Miyamoto for Sega's Yuji Naka. GameSpot has a handful of funny gags up, like this announcement of the Zork trilogy for Xbox (complete with screenshots and gameplay movies), Pete Rose's move into video games, John Madden signing with Sega as their new spokesman, EA's "bunch of new war games", and an announcement about GTA: Tokyo 2010. And finally, Bungie follows up on last year's winning gag with updates to the Pimps at Sea page, showcasing the the PimpWheel and PimpCom add-ons.
PS2 Kingdom Hearts Sequel(s) confirmed? At the newly formalized SquareEnix's first press conference, president Youchi Wada announced that while it hasn't been signed definitively yet with Disney, they plan on making a sequel to Kingdom Hearts. But that's not all...he apparently went on to say that they intend to make Kingdom Hearts a pillar of the company, alongside Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. For their sake, I hope the novelty can sustain multiple sequels.
GameCube PS2 Xbox StarCraft: Ghost Impressions Hands-on impressions of Star Craft: Ghost are up at IGN tonight. This is technically a look at the Xbox version of the game, however the three versions are identical.
PS2 G1 Jockey 3 Preview I thought this was going to be an April Fool's joke, but it most certainly isn't...GameSpot has posted their hands-on impressions of G1 Jockey 3, Koei's horse racing sim title that is making the long trek to North America (an extremely rare feat for a game in this genre).
PS2 Xbox BG: Dark Alliance II Trailer The first gameplay trailer from Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II can be found at IGN tonight.
GameCube P.N.03 Q&A Computer and Video Games has conducted a Q&A with Hiroyuki Kobayashi, the producer of P.N.03 at Capcom. He discusses the general concept of the game, along with his impressions of working with the GameCube hardware.
GameCube F-Zero Japanese Release Date Set We'll be getting F-Zero here in August, but it was announced today that F-Zero will be arriving on Japanese store shelves on July 25th. If you're planning on importing, pre-order that baby now.
Console Game of the Evening: Herzog Zwei for the Sega Genesis. "The game, along with Dune 2, that sparked the Real-Time Strategy genre." (submitted by radjago).

Seriously, about Dark Alliance 2 trailer tho... Eh, it seems rather average, I'd kill for a REAL Baldurs Gate/ Fallout sequel rather than this cheap kncck off stuff (I mean really, how hard is Dark Alliance 2 to develop? More levels + monsters to kill)

Did you play it though? Dark Alliance was fun as hell.

It was fun for sure! I played it through twice (co-op = love!) but I can't help but feel that the REAL sequels will be so much better
