Medal of Honor Early
by Steve Gibson, Jan 21, 2002 8:19am PSTTomorrow is the day that Medal of Honor: Allied Assault is showing up on shelves according to the folks at EA. Havent gotten a chance to head out there and grab a copy myself but we've had a couple of people send in comfirmations that they've seen it a day early. You can check out the single player demo here, and multiplayer demo here.
The game will be available in stores on January 22, 2002. Medal of Honor Allied Assault for the PC features over 30 levels of fully realized 3-D worlds in which the player must accomplish specific objectives and goals in order to succeed and advance. Medal of Honor Allied Assault carries an ESRB rating of "T" for Teen and a MSRP of US$49.99.Any bets on retailers jacking the price up way beyond the MSRP like they did with Wolf?

If you play on Medium it last quite a bit longer... I don't really want to think about it on hard. Maybe I'm just not hardcore at games like I used to be, but on Hard difficulty this game is farking difficult.
The game is roughly the same size as the PSX editions of MoH, however, with the ability to Quicksave and the fact that keyboard and mouse are better than a controller make the game far quicker to play through, but this isn't a console game... and the playtesting should have shown the game to be a little short.
Personally I think this is the best FPS released since NOLF and i think everyone should play it. And don't just play through it once on Easy and then bag the game. Play it on a decent difficulty and then replay the missions to get all the medals. One of the things i really like about the PSX version was the replayability of levels. The PC version is the same. It's just cool going through the levels in different ways, taking out guys using different weapons. Trying to do a whole map with just the sniper rifle or just the pistol... anyways... quit bagging what is far and away the best FPS out there on the market.

I swallowed my pride about 'never installing gamespy' so I could see exactly what my drinking buddies were talking about. "'Medal of Honour' is the best game I've played!". They were wrong.
Anyway, if I buy this game, it will be in the bargain bin cuz there's no way in hell I'll be spending $79 CDN for a game that in no way makes me think it's better than DoD. I can see MoH being good if that someone started playing MoH as their first WWII fps. For myself after playing DoD a lot, I just can't see myself buying it for anything approaching MSR.

Nevermind how violent the game is in the first place. Spelling localization matters dammit!
