Terminal Reality, the Texas-based development team behind titles like BloodRayne and Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, is suing Microsoft. Terminal Reality shut down back in 2013, but is claiming Microsoft titles and engines are infringing upon patents attached to the Infernal Engine.

Gamasutra reported, via information spotted by Patent Arcade, the complaint from Terminal Reality. Here are a few games that have utilized the Infernal Engine from Terminal Reality:

  • Ghostbusters: The Video Games
  • Kinect Star Wars
  • The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
  • Def Jam Rapstar
  • Wipeout: The Game
  • BloodRayne 2
  • Demonik

The complaint lists games like Halo 5, Gears of War 4, Sea of Thieves, Halo: Reach, Fable Legends, Forza Motorsport 6, Quantum Break, and PUBG as releases that are infringing on shadow and lighting patents from the Infernal Engine. Stay tuned to Shacknews for more updates on this ordeal.
