H1Z1 Pro League Heading To Vegas, Will Stream Exclusively On Facebook

Last year battle royale titles like PUBG and Fortnite rose to the upper echelon of gaming popularity and both titles boast player numbers in the tens of millions. But there are other titles out there that have been doing survival gaming in one form or another that are ready to take their place under the big top with the heavy hitters. With that in mind, the developers at Daybreak Games have announced the new H1Z1 Pro League or "H1PL" for short. 

Starting on April 21 fans will be able to watch all the action unfold either live at the Twin Galaxies Esports Arena at Caesars Entertainment Studios in Las Vegas, or tune in to Facebook exclusively. H1PL has signed an exclusive deal with the social media giant for livestream broadcasting of the inaugural tournament, so don't expect to be catching it on Twitch or Mixer anytime soon. 

The tournament itself will take place over two 10-week splits and will feature 15 well-known teams competing to take home the grand prize. According to the press release this is the final list of teams initially joining the league:

• Counter Logic Gaming
• Echo Fox
• Epsilon Esports
• GankStars
• Impact Gaming
• Luminosity
• Noble Esports
• Obey Alliance
• Rogue Gaming
• SetToDestroyX
• Team SoloMid
• Tempo Storm
• Vitality

The press release also outlines that, "The H1Z1 Pro League will include a guaranteed player minimum salary, team owner and player representation on the governance committee, along with a comprehensive 'Player Bill of Rights' and a well-defined revenue sharing model." Meaning pro players will not only get paid to compete, but they'll get a cut from the broadcast earnings and other promotional work they may be involved in.  

While the first match will take place on April 21, which is a Saturday, fans can expect matches to take place on Wednesday nights. Fans will be able to tune into the H1PL Facebook page to watch broadcasts. Players can also find out how to qualify over on the Twin Galaxies website.

While H1Z1 has seen a drop-off in popularity with the rise of other titles in the battle royale genre, this may be the injection of hype that the game needs breathe life back into it.
