Season passes are becoming a constant with most major multiplatform gaming releases and it's no surprise that Ubisoft's upcoming Far Cry 5 features one of its own. What is a surprise, though, is the content of said season pass. Over the months following the launch of the controversial first-person shooter, players will fight on Mars, on b-movie sets, and in Vietnam.
The newly announced season pass will be available a la carte or within the Gold Edition of Far Cry 5. Far Cry 5 was almost a linear experience earlier in development, but it ultimately stuck to the open-world format and the new DLC is opening things up even further. The three pieces of content unlocked via the pass are described below:
- Hours of Darkness: Players will travel back in time to Vietnam to battle against Viet Cong soldiers
- Dead Living Zombies: Players will face hordes of zombies across multiple b-movie scenarios
- Lost on Mars: Players will leave Earth behind to go toe-to-claws with Martian arachnids
In addition to fresh new content, season pass carriers will receive access to Far Cry 3 Classic Edition which includes the single-player content only. Pass holders will be able to play four weeks before Far Cry 3 Classic launches standalone this Summer.
Another major reveal that came along with the season pass announcement is the fact that the developers are working on bringing the map editor back to the Far Cry series. Details will be revealed in the future. Far Cry 5 hits retailers and digital storefronts for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on March 27.
