Injustice 2 has had a very good 2017 and Warner Bros. and NetherRealm are hoping for some new players for the holidays. That's why this weekend, they're kicking off a free weekend on consoles.

The free trial is live, as of Thursday morning. All multiplayer features are active for all Xbox Live and PlayStation Plus members. The first three chapters of the game's Story Mode will also be made available for solo players, as will the game's Multiverse Mode. The Multiverse will even offer up playable DLC characters, depending on the scenario. Players will be able to level up andn unlock customization options, as normal. Should anyone decide to pick up the full game, which is currently running for 50 percent off, all progress and any items earned will be retained.

The Injustice 2 free trial will continue through December 18 at 11:59PM PT. For more, visit the WB Games forums.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
