Unknown 9: Awakening revealed during gamescom Opening Night Live

Published , by TJ Denzer

During the onslaught of announcements and premieres on Gamescom Opening Night Live, we got to see what could be an interesting upcoming journey in the form of Unknown 9: Awakening. Kicking off with a young Indian girl who discovers a mysterious supernatural world underneath the surface of our own, Unknown 9: Awakening is part of a series of narratives that explores the occult and bizarre around the world as individuals get involved in the supernatural.

Unknown 9: Awakening was revealed during Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live on August 27, 2020. All we got to see was a cinematic trailer, but it was interesting to say the least. Billed as a next-gen adventure game coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, players will take on the role of Haroona in the Indian city of Kolkata. An outcast, Haroona finds in dire times that she can see through dimensions, manipulate the flow of time, and bend reality in short moments. See for yourself what that means in the trailer for Unknown 9: Awakening below.

Little else is known at this time about the Unknown 9: Awakening game, but it is part of a greater universe of stories, activities, and other collective works that began in 2018 with the Unknown 9 Storyworld. There are also puzzles to solve in virtual events in Unknown 9: Chapters. With so much content and lore in its created universe already, it would appear that Unknown 9: Awakening has a lot to draw from. That said, with no details beyond platforms and the trailer in sight, it feels as though Awakening is pretty far off and can be expected to miss the 2020 gaming calendar.
