Wolfenstein PC System Requirements Arrive

Further lifting the veil on Raven's mystical revamp of the classic World War II shooter Wolfenstein, id's Peter Sokal has revealed the minimum system requirements.

Sokal prefaced his forum post with "bam," calling to mind that endearing remix of Microsoft's E3 conference. Don't know what I'm talking about? Well bam, there it is.

Wolfenstein is slated to hit PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 4.

Activision today nailed down a release date for Raven's upcoming shooter Wolfenstein, scheduling the game for an arrival on August 4.
Wolfenstein puts players in the shoes of series regular BJ Blazkowicz as he blasts his way through occult-obsessed Nazis.

The shooter is set to ship simultaneously PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Wolfenstein Multiplayer Screenshots Leaked?

A large batch of environment screenshots from Raven's upcoming shooter Wolfenstein have apparently leaked onto the internet today.

An industry source directed Shacknews to this Photobucket gallery, which supposedly contains a number of screenshots sourced from Wolfenstein's multiplayer maps. The images, labeled "property of id Software," depict scenes consistent with the game's dark World War II setting and id Tech 4 engine.

When contacted for information on the images, an Activision rep responded: "The screens in question were not distributed by Activision or approved by Activision, and thus Activision cannot confirm their authenticity."

Shacknews has also contacted project overseer id Software.

Wolfenstein, the next chapter of the World War II-era Wolfenstein franchise, is scheduled to hit stores this summer on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Wolfenstein Set for Summer Release

Activision today revealed that Raven's upcoming shooter Wolfenstein, the latest installment in the classic FPS franchise, will be released sometime this summer.
Set in World War II, Wolfenstein stars series regular B.J. Blazkowicz, who must once again stop the Nazis from conquering the world with supernatural powers. An alternate dimension called the "Veil" will be involved, as will plenty of guns.

The game will hit stores simultaneously on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Raven today released a lengthier trailer showcasing its upcoming FPS Wolfenstein (PC, 360, PS3).

Wolfenstein First Look

Wolfenstein is shaping up to be another Raven first person shooter.

Of course, this is not a bad thing, depending on your disposition: Raven has a made a name for itself as a dependable, if predictable studio. They typically manage to polish their shooters to an even finish, whether it be Jedi Outcast or Quake 4.

That being said, Wolfenstein (PC, 360, PS3) already seems a thoroughly developed title. As fans will expect, American hero B.J. Blazkowicz is back, along with Hitler, his Nazi crew, and plenty of supernatural weapons and enemies.

The producers are focusing on delivering a more story-driven experience in this entry to the series. At one point during a short single player demo, B.J. made his way to a resistance hideout, where he was briefed on a Nazi project to tunnel into another dimension. These resistance leaders talked around B.J., detailing current events as he quietly listened a la Half-Life 2.

QuakeCon 2008 Coverage Kicks Off This Week, Shacknews Joins Sponsors, Spots Still Open

QuakeCon 2008 officially ramps up this Thursday in Dallas, Texas. Shacknews will be representin' at the big show, with Nick and Steve checking out such titles as id Software's Rage, the browser-based shooter Quake Live, Raven Software's Wolfenstein and others.

Raven Working On Singularity

In a press release announcing its upcoming lineup, Activision revealed that Raven Software is working on a first person shooter titled Singularity. No additional details were announced, though the publisher did note the game represented an "all-new wholly owned intellectual property."

The press release also noted this about the untitled new Wolfenstein game, also in development at Raven.
Set within a near-fictional, historical WWII setting, players take on the role of the heroic OSA agent BJ Blazkowicz as they are thrust into the unknown and unexpected to battle against combat troops, otherworldly forces, and the dark science created by a supernatural Nazi force hell-bent on world domination.
