New Indiana Jones Wii Screenshots Show Off Old-school 'Fate of Atlantis' Unlockable

The latest batch of screenshots from the Wii edition of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings don't actually showcase A2M's waggle-centric action-adventure game.

Instead, they provide a glimpse of LucasArts' classic adventure title Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, included as an unlockable in the Wii edition of Staff of Kings. It looks just as it did in 1992, with the addition of that cute little Wii pointing finger.

Sadly, the Fate of Atlantis unlockable is exclusive to the Wii edition, and will not be part of the PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS editions. All four are due on the same day, June 9.

Update: LusasArts tells Joystiq that the unlockable version of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis will exclusive to the Wii release of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.

Original: LucasArts has issued the first details on the forthcoming action game Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, revealing that it will pack an unlockable version of LucasArts' 1992 PC adventure title Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

Left, Staff of Kings. Right, Fate of Atlantis.

It was not specified if the unlockable will be Wii-only, or if it'll be present in the PS2, PSP and DS releases. The conditions required to unlock the game were not provided.

As for the actual Staff of Kings game, the Wii version will have players wielding the Wii Remote "like Indy's signature whip" while searching for the Staff of Moses. It'll also have two-player co-op and four-player versus modes, such as tank and biplane combat.

The Nintendo DS edition will have stylus-based controls, with the PSP version said to include "six robust types of burst gameplay, including combat and physics." The PlayStation 2 release is expected to mirror that of the Wii's, sans motion controls.

No release date has been given for Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings Revealed

Aug 28, 2008 10:37am CST tags: Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, Activision, PEGI, LucasArts
A new game based off the adventures of Indiana Jones is headed to Nintendo DS and PSP, according to a listing from European game rating board PEGI.

Listed as Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, the action game is reported to be published by Activision, with no other details available.

LucasArts, the license holder for Star Wars and Indiana Jones games, is known to have an as-yet-untitled Indiana Jones title in development for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of LucasArts' upcoming action game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed were developed internally, while the PS2, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP editions were outsourced to external studios.

Given that precedent, it is possible that the Staff of Kings listing is indicative of a similar multi-platform treatment for the upcoming Indiana Jones game, though no evidence is currently available to support or deny that speculation.
