The company further boasted that the strong debut ranks among its "top 5 best-selling launches of any title on any platform," though exact details were not provided.
Bundled with the Guitar Grip peripheral at a $49.99 price point, Guitar Hero: On Tour hits store shelves this Sunday.
At present, the bundle marks the only offering of the silver-black DS Lite in North America. No price was given, though the DS hardware is regularly priced at $129.99, with the Activision-published, Vicarious Visions-produced game selling at $49.99.
Controlled through a "Guitar Grip" add-on that plugs into the system's Game Boy Advance cartridge slot, Guitar Hero: On Tour has players strumming the touch screen in beat with over 25 songs.

"People thought it was ludicrous," Vicarious CEO Karthik Bala told me at a Guitar Hero event earlier this week. "It was never in the plan to do that."
As Bala puts it, the whole thing came out of the Vicarious staff playing around to "see if it was even possible to do a really good music rhythm game on a handheld." Twenty-three prototypes and a few cardboard guitars later, a breakthrough came in the form of a "crazy Frankenstein GBA cartridge" wired with fret buttons.
Activision and RedOctane thought it was insane. And when the first prototype was presented to Nintendo, Bala says they were stunned.
But the really, really amazing part? For all the unwieldy-looking peripherals and wacky ads, the Nintendo DS entry, Guitar Hero: On Tour, really is Guitar Hero. It works. It's fun. In fact, I think it does some things better than the console editions... Read more
Among the shots are glimpses of the game's local wireless multiplayer and its use of the DS' microphone to blow out on-stage fires.
According to GameSpot, the game will feature over 25 tracks, including OK Go's "Do What You Want," Blink 182's "All the Small Things," No Doubt's "Spiderwebs," Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl," Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It," and an unknown Nirvana song.
Developed by Vicarious Visions and utilizing a special guitar grip add-on that plugs into the DS' Game Boy Advance cartridge slot, Guitar Hero: On Tour is expected to arrive this summer.
Guitar Hero: On Tour is expected to release this summer. No price point has been announced for the game, which will feature tracks from Nirvana, OK Go, and No Doubt.
Entitled Guitar Hero: On Tour, the game utilizes a peripheral called the Guitar Grip to recreate the Guitar Hero experience. The peripheral plugs into the Nintendo DS's Game Boy Advance slot on the bottom of the system and features four buttons versus the traditional guitar controller's five.
With the peripheral in place, the DS is held in a book-style orientation in which the touch screen is used to strum. The Guitar Grip also features a strap to secure the peripheral and system to gamers' sweaty mitts.
Guitar Hero: On Tour will feature more than 20 licensed songs from bands such as Nirvana, OK Go, and No Doubt, along with the usual slew of unlockable guitarists and other bonuses that gamers expect from the series. The game is developed by Vicarious Visions, and is scheduled for release this summer.
The announcement confirms Guitar Hero: On Tour as one of two Guitar Hero titles revealed by Activision to be due out before the summer, the other being the recently announced Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. A third Guitar Hero title, which is rumored to be Guitar Hero IV, is scheduled for release in the fall.
