Borderlands DLC Will Surprise, At Least Two Coming

Aug 21, 2009 6:30am CST tags: Borderlands, DLC, Gamescom 2009
At least two downloadable content batches surprising in content and speed of release will hit Gearbox's Diablo-esque shooter Borderlands, according to CEO Randy Pitchford.

"People are going to be surprised when they find out how quickly we're coming, and with what content we're coming," Eurogamer reports Pitchford saying in a Gamescom presentation. "Also, we're going to watch and see what happens when the game launches, so we can have our plans affected by what our customers want more of."

A Twitter post by Pitchford reveals "The first 2 Borderlands DLC packs will be all new - not stuff that was cut or held back!" Gearbox's Mikey Neumann told us at E3 that DLC is often birthed during the certification period--which Borderlands is currently in.

What happens a lot of the time is you finish your game and it's time for cert, and during cert a lot of bugs crop up that you have to fix, and a lot of them are really, really big bugs. You are certainly not adding any content to the game at all. A level? No way... Read more

A fine time, the 1950s. Before the advent of Twitter, rainbow clubs and rap singers, for $5 you could ride a steam train, have a malt, buy a fast car and catch a monster movie at the drive-in, and still have change to get stuck up at knifepoint on your way home.

Rage Screenshots Display Best of British

Aug 20, 2009 7:57am CST tags: Rage, Screenshots, Gamescom 2009
New Rage screenshots show that even in a post-apocalyptic future, there's no escaping British sports hooligans. Given that id Software's shooter features combat-filled racing and an ultra-violent game show named Mutant Bash TV, I suppose the presence of a shaven-headed man daubed with the Union Jack is inevitable. Here's the chap now.

Go on my son!

Rage on with the QuakeCon trailer and our interview with id CEO Todd Hollenshead, or wait for it to arrive on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 "When it's fun and when it's done."
