Bayonetta Release Dates Announced

Oct 29, 2009 3:40pm CST tags: Bayonetta
PlatinumGames' stylish action title Bayonetta will ship off to North American shops on January 5 and those of Europe on January 8, publisher Sega announced today.

Crafted by Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya, the game sees players take control of the titular Bayonetta "after being entombed in a coffin sunk in the bottom of the lake" for 500 years "with no memory of anything but her witchcraft."

Our angel-slaying protagonist also has guns in her shoes and an outfit crafted out of her magic hair (seriously). The more magic she uses, the more naked she becomes.

The news follows today's Japanese debut of the PlayStaiton 3 and Xbox 360 game, which received a "a perfect score of 40/40 for Xbox 360" from publication Weekly Famitsu. The PlayStation 3 version, which was ported by Sega, received a 38/40.

Bayonetta will arrive for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in January 2010, published by Sega.
