By combining a total of over 100 parts found throughout the game, such as body panels, engines, wheels, and weapons, players can design vehicles to suit virtually any goal in the game.
For those who want to skip the workshop and get straight to the gameplay, Nuts and Bolts also features pre-built contraptions for use in the single-player campaign.

Meanwhile, Rare's pinata-breeding sequel Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise (X360) is officially slated to hit in September.
Original Story: Two supposed but rather legitimate-looking screenshots of Rare's upcoming Xbox 360 action-adventure title Banjo Kazooie began making rounds on the internet today.
Representing the first media of the game to arrive since its 2006 announcement trailer, the images provide an in-game glimpse of the first Banjo effort to hit a home console since the Nintendo 64 release of Banjo Tooie in 2000.
Rumors suggest the title, which is often referred to by series fans as Banjo Kazooie 3 or Banjo Threeie, will be compatible with the oft-rumored Wii Remote-esque Xbox 360 controller.
Given that Microsoft is set to show Banjo Kazooie at its Spring Showcase event on Tuesday, it is likely that these assets are from the media that is planned that day. Check back with Shacknews Tuesday for more on Banjo and the rest of Microsoft's 2008 lineup.
Keeping in line with previous murmurs that Microsoft subsidiary Rare was playing a key part in the device's development, Kotaku claims that the device and its integration into Rare's Xbox 360 platformer Banjo Kazooie could be demonstrated at an event next Tuesday.
Further evidence that Microsoft will make some type announcement comes from the unusual timing of the event's press embargo, as Microsoft will be allowing coverage before any media is allowed to enter the showcase.
Check back next week for more information, as Shacknews will be attending the Microsoft Spring Showcase and will provide full details on Banjo Kazooie and any other titles shown or announced at the event.
The game is supposedly a collection of sports minigames like the 100 meter dash, hurdles, and curling, all with a Rare twist--the curling game replaces the stone with timid Diddy Kong Racing (N64) turtle Tip Tup, for instance. Most of the games can purportedly be controlled using gestures in combination with the Vision camera.
Players can also use the camera to put their faces on Rare's stable of characters, giving the impression of animal-suited mascots competing in a sporting competition. According to Xbox Live Fanboy, Rare will later expand the game with downloadable content packs for sports like croquet, bowling, volleyball, and fishing.
Rare's last offering was the pinata life simulator Viva Pinata (PC, X360), and the company is currently developing a third title in the Banjo Kazooie series for Xbox 360. Shacknews contacted Microsoft for comment, but has not yet received a response.
Speaking to Famitsu, Nintendo confirmed that all of their published NES, SNES, and N64 games will be available for download. While the magazine didn't offer a complete list of the games, some gamers have compiled lists of their own. The number of released titles appears to be ranging between 214 and 221, but in any case, here's the one IGN has up. They're quick to point out that in the end, some titles won't make it such as Banjo Kazooie as Rare holds the license on that.
Most of the major picture studios received the Halo script today and they are currently engaging in a bidding war for the rights to make the movie. Microsoft tapped 28 Days Later writer Alex Garland to pen the movie adaptation and had messengers dressed as the Master Chief to hit up each studio with the script. The studios were to read it over lunch and place bids in the afternoon. According to Defamer.com, those privy to info on the script say it's a dud. Hmm, a Hollywood insider saying a game adaptation script is a "horrible?" Considering they're the peeps responsible for Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead, maybe that's a good thing!
Tecmo confirmed today that Ninja Gaiden Black for the Xbox will retail at $29.99. A Tecmo rep told GameSpot to not be fooled by its value price. "I don't want you to think that NGB is going to be a cheap re-make of NG because Team Ninja has been working their butts off to completely revamp the game from the ground up and adding loads of new stuff," the rep said.
Not necessarily surprising news, but it's the first we've heard of it. Nintendo confirmed to Famitsu that a Donkey Kong title is being developed for the Revolution. Absolutely no specifics were given, so it's up in the air if its a platformer, another Donkey Konga, or something completely different.
Just yesterday I was thinking, "Hmm, how come they didn't make a sequel to Wreckless?" It was one of the Xbox's first big titles but never was any mention of a sequel muttered.. until now. IGN discovered on a Japanese retail site a listing for Double S.T.E.A.L. The Second Crush. Well, it so happens to be that Wreckless was called Double S.T.E.A.L. in Japan. However, it has an August 4 release date and a reduced price tag. Maybe it's not a sequel and just a re-release?
Capcom announced its plan to port both Mega Man Legends and Breath of Fire 3 to the PSP. Both were previously released on the PlayStation and Nintendo 64. The version of Mega Man Legends is actually a reworked version of the N64 title released here in the states. This was Mega Man's first foray into 3D. Both are set to ship sometime in August.

GameSpot checks out Kirby: Canvas Curse (DS). GameSpy has screenies of Death, Jr. (PSP) and a trailer for Rebelstar Tactical Command (GBA). IGN has a trailer for Chronos Twin (GBA).
TeamXbox gives us their thoughts of StarCraft: Ghost (PS2, Xbox, GCN), Taxi Driver (PS2, Xbox), and Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects (PS2, Xbox, GCN). GamesAreFun has a ton of new details on Mega Man X Collection (PS2, Xbox, GCN). GameSpot has some footage of Medal of Honor: European Assault (PS2, Xbox, GCN). IGN has a big 'ol trailer for Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure (PS2, Xbox).
Mega Man for the Game Boy Color. "A dream come true for many--Mega Man in pocket form! Subtitled "Dr. Wily's Revenge," many think "#)%(*_^(*#(%_ REASON TO THROW GAMEBOY AGAINST WALL" is just as appropriate." (submitted by Omaha).
| Sega 3D Ages in English? Sorry,
not yet. Earlier this evening, as I was sorting through my mail, I got all excited when I spotted a Sega-style "AGES" logo on the back of the November issue of the UK gaming magazine EDGE (yeah, I paid a fortune for the subscription, but it's worth it). I tore into the plastic bag and frantically flipped through the magazine for some mention of the Sega 3D Ages line of classic Sega remakes, some of which are already out in Japan, and none of which have been announced for release outside of Asia. Well, I didn't find anything, because that "AGES" on that back is simply a very clever reversal of the "SEGA" logo that's on the front cover. Damn those Europeans and their innovative design sense! |

| FFVII: Advent Children Confirmed
for US Release? Not quite, but Square Enix has filed for trademark protection on the title in this country. Yeah, I know it's not much to go on, but it's a slow night. I stick by my original assessment that it will be released in this country as part of a two-pack containing the original Final Fantasy VII, as I can't see a 60 minute movie being as well-received here as well as it will be in Japan, where OVA releases are commonplace. |

| Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
II Q&A RPGDot has posted a Q&A with Terry Spier, a designer on the upcoming action RPG Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II. Note that this sequel is not being developed by Snowblind Studios, who have been occupied with a very similar title of their own, the EverQuest title Champions of Norrath. |

| Mega Man X Interview A new interview with Tatsuya Kitabayashi, the producer at Capcom on Mega Man X7 is up at GameSpy tonight, just in time for its North American debut. Among other things, Kitabayashi discusses the game's merging of 2D and 3D gameplay. |
|
| A History of Aliens vs. Predator While it's not purely a console series, the Aliens vs. Predator games have appeared on a handful of console systems, and the Jaguar version in particular is near-legendary, and 1UP has posted a look back at every AvP to date, including the forgettable Game Boy title that served as the series' debut to the recent (and likewise forgettable) AvP: Extinction for PS2 and Xbox. |
|
| Halo 2 Music Report A brief update from Bungie's Marty O'Donnell is up at Music 4 Games, in which the audio director discusses his work to date on the score for Halo 2. It would seem that we've already heard everything that's been recorded to date, as all that's been fully recorded so far are the soundtracks to the announcement teaser and E3 demo, but if you're interested in game music this is still pretty interesting. |

Sega GT Online Q&A Computer and Video Games' Sega GT Online Q&A talks with Rikiya Nakigawa, the producer on this upcoming Xbox Live-enabled racing title. The Q&A covers a number of topics, including the new on and offline additions to this game over Sega GT 2002. |
| Banjo Kazooie Q&A Also at Computer and Video Games tonight is a Q&A with an unnamed representative for Microsoft-subsidiary Rare (that's still weird to me), talking about Banjo Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, the first Microsoft-developed game released for the GBA. |
|
| GTA3 #3 in Japan It's not breaking any sales records, but in its second week out in Japan, Grand Theft Auto 3 is still representin' the western world well on the Japanese charts, falling to #3 behind Far East of Eden II: Manji Maru and Dynasty Warriors 4: Mosho Den, sadly gamesindustry.biz doesn't provide specific sales figures, but they do say that GTA3 is among the most successful overseas-developed titles to be released in Japan (although let's face it, that's not saying much). |

| Resonance Interview Team Xbox has conducted an interview with Daniel Bisson of Neocell Factory, talking with the producer and creative director about their upcoming Xbox RPG Resonance. The interview is peppered with screenshots for those (like myself) previously unfamiliar with the title. |

| New Releases This Week There's a good batch here this week...for GameCube there's Bionicle and Kirby's Air Ride, PS2 has Jak II, Choplifter: Crisis Shield and Mega Man X7 and Gekido: Kintaro's Revenge, Kien, Mega Man Zero 2, Sim City 2000 and Street Jam Basketball are all out for GBA. On the cross-platform front there's Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu, MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch and NBA Live 2004 (all GC, PS2, Xbox) as well as Roadkill (PS2, Xbox) and Tak and the Power of Juju (GC, PS2, GBA). And finally there are two new N-Gage releases as well: MLB Slam! and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. |

| Misc. Media/Previews GameSpot has a new preview of Manhunt (PS2) as well as new shots from Monster Rancher 4 (PS2), Phantom Brave (PS2) and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (GC, PS2, Xbox). Over at IGN they have new media from Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (GC, PS2, Xbox) and Medal of Honor: Infiltrator (GBA), along with the new commercial for Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike (GC). Elsewhere online, Games Are Fun has new footage from Monster Hunter (PS2) and new shots from Killer 7 (GC), 1UP has new previews of Mario Kart: Double Dash (GC) and Final Fantasy XI (PS2) and HomeLAN goes hands-on with Magic: The Gathering Battlegrounds (Xbox). |
| Still
More Square Rumors Just because I know how much you all love these...Video-Fenky is the latest place to claim that SquareEnix is working on a sequel or remake to Final Fantasy VII. Slightly raining on that parade is IGN's Insider-only Gaming Life in Japan column, which speculates that even if such a project is in the works, it's more likely to be revealed at a separate press conference than this month's Tokyo Game Show. I'm inclined to agree with them there. If Square does have another title besides Front Mission 4 to unveil at the show, it's probably going to be Kingdom Hearts 2. Either that, or a new release of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, which would be an attempt on their part to make up for the bug-filled first release of the game. |
|
| Uber-Zelda
Package in the Works? GameInformer has a news item up citing sources close to Nintendo that a huge Zelda GameCube package is in the works for release this holiday season. The package will reportedly include The Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask (the second N64 game in the series), the first two NES titles and a special Zelda documentary. Missing from the list are Master Quest (AKA Ura Zelda) and The Wind Waker, whose absence would mean that this is the first console package I can think of that wouldn't include a single native game for the platform. |
|
| Xbox
2 Details? Team Xbox has posted what they claim are rough details on ATI's GPU for the Xbox 2 (thanks HomeLAN). There is of course no way to verify any of this, and even if it is true, there's a good chance it could change between now and the 2005 - 2006 release of the system. |

| Mario
Kart Pre-Order Bonus Revealed Sorry retro-fans, but you're about to be disappointed...Nintendo has officially announced their bonus disc that will be sent to those who pre-order Mario Kart: Double Dash, and sadly, unlike the pre-order bonuses for Zelda: The Wind Waker and Star Wars Rogue Squadron: Rebel Strike, it's lacking in retro-fun. Instead you'll get something a bit more forward-thinking: a disc full of playable demos and previews of upcoming GameCube titles. Cool? Sure, but Mario Kart or Mario Kart 64 would have been cooler. |

Calibur II Selling Well In case there was any doubt, Namco announced today that Soul Calibur II is selling very well. How well, you ask? They shipped over 1.6 million copies on the first day, a new record for the company. Unknown at this point is how each version is selling, something the console war junkie in me really wants to know. |

| GameCube
Outsells PS2 in Japan It's only by a very slim margin, but the latest Media Create numbers out of Japan put the GameCube at 35,600 units sold for the week ending August 31st, while the PS2 sold a mere 35,300. This sudden upswing in GameCube sales is being attributed to the release of Tales of Symphonia and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, which marks the first release of two major RPG series for the platform (Japan has always been a very RPG-obsessed market). |
|
| Eidos
Drops GameCube Support It's not all good news for Nintendo today, as Eidos Interactive formally announced that they are dropping support for the GameCube platform. Eidos has informally been pulling out of the system all year, and in their announcement CEO Mike McGarvey is quoted as saying the GameCube is, "a declining business." |
|
| More
Eidos Wackiness In other Eidos news, I was one of many people that was left with my jaw hanging open as I read that the company has actually managed to pull a profit for the fiscal year ending on June 30th. But that wasn't nearly as strange as after reading that this profit was due to four million sellers (Championship Manager 4, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, TimeSplitters 2, and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness), that the company is actually dropping two of them! For reasons only Eidos management is privy to, the company will not be publishing the next game in the TimeSplitters series, and they have also severed ties with Sports Interactive, the developer of the million-selling Championship Manager series. While Eidos doesn't own the IP behind TimeSplitters (allowing Free Radical to go where they please), they do own the rights to Championship Manager, so that series will continue with a different developer at the helm. |

| Final
Fantasy VII at TGS? Rumors have started circulating that either a remake or sequel to Final Fantasy VII will be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show at the end of the month. LNC readers may recall Square's previous debunking of such rumors, where they said that even if they did want to make a FFVII-2, the fact that it would require 100% new assets would make that a futile task, and their time would be better spent on an entirely new game. But a remake could theoretically allow them to make two games for the price of one (or 1.5, anyway). But I still wouldn't hold my breath. |

Console Price Drops Revealed CvG is reporting that all three consoles are going to be getting a price drop in the UK in the very near future. Their leaked numbers put a new PS2 package that includes the EyeToy and Groove at £169.99, the bare PS2 system for £129.99, an Xbox package that includes the Xbox Live kit and one free game for£149.99, an Xbox package that includes two games for £129.99, the bare Xbox system for £99.99, a GameCube package with one game for £129.99 and the standalone console for £79.99. Before you get all excited about price drops here, note that these numbers bring the UK in line with the rest of the world (if still slightly more in some cases). If that's not enough for you, even more PS2 bundles are listed at gamesindustry.biz, including ones featuring Gran Turismo 4, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and GTA: Vice City (although not all at once). |

Live Trial Games Revealed Once you ignore the story reporting on a Halo 2 delay (sorry guys, but it hasn't been a 2003 game for some time now), you'll find a list of games that are going to be shipping with free Xbox Live trials over at Eurogamer. The list includes such notables as Ninja Gaiden, Unreal II and Sega's ESPN line of sports titles, and each of the games on the list comes with two months of free service, although presumably you can only do this once per console. |
| "Million
Seller" Revealed? It would appear that the GBA game hinted at by one Japanese magazine to sell "a million for sure; maybe even two" is...a new Pokemon. Video Fenky spotted a mention in another Japanese magazine, which said they'll have more in an issue coming out on October 3rd. If true, that would certainly justify those expectations. |

| Pikmin
2 Delayed It's official: Nintendo has pushed Pikmin 2 into 2004. Surprisingly, this isn't just one of those delays where the game will narrowly miss the holiday season...it's been pushed into the second quarter of 2004, in an attempt to "ensure the final product meets the high standards that Nintendo fans deserve." |

Rare

As expected Banjo Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge will be the first out of the gate (on September 15th, no less), but also announced were Sabre Wulf, It's Mr. Pants (the only totally new title to be revealed, and apparently features the oddball character from Rare's website), and Banjo Pilot, which is the renamed and rebranded title formerly known as Diddy Kong Pilot. IGN has some new screenshots and the box art from Grunty's Revenge and over at GameSpot you can find new shots from Sabre Wulf. |

GameCube
Sales Bleak Yikes...according to gamesindustry.biz, GameCube sales dropped below the 1000 unit mark for last week in the UK. While there are many explanations for the slump in sales over there, one likely reason pointed out in this item is the dearth of major titles of late, which won't be cured for another month, as Soul Calibur II isn't due out there until the end of September, and F-Zero GX until October. |

Grabbed by the Ghoulies (Xbox): The second game Rare was showing at Microsoft's booth was Grabbed by the Ghoulies, a fun platform game that's very much in the Rare style. Ghoulies is oriented for a younger audience than their other games (certainly younger than Conker!) but it's fun nonetheless, and may appeal to the same crowd who liked Banjo Kazooie. The idea is that you play a young boy trapped in a haunted mansion. You maneuver by moving around with the left stick, and fight by pushing the right stick in the direction you want to attack. The game has a very cartoony look to it, and there's a great deal of humor as well. ...
