Read moreIt is accurate that we are currently working exclusively on the Xbox360 version of Alan Wake. PC plans are currently open, and therefore it's safe to say that at least a simultaneous launch with the Xbox version will not happen at this late stage. Remedy has a deep heritage in PC gaming and would love to see a PC version available to its PC followers, ultimately however this decision lies with our publisher.Initially announced for PC and "next generation consoles" in 2005, Alan Wake was confirmed for Xbox 360 and PC when Microsoft signed on to publish in 2006, with the Xbox 360 edition now slated for "spring 2010." The now-uncertain fate of the PC release has caused quite a stir, especially considering the Max Payne creator's past positioning of Alan Wake as a flagship title for PC technology from Microsoft and Intel.
"Other than [the Xbox 360 version] the plans are up in the air and open," lead writer Sam Lake told Edge. When asked if the game was still coming to PC, he said that "once we're done with the 360 version we'll evaluate the situation and see what makes sense."
Originally announced for the PC and "next generation consoles" in 2005, Alan Wake was later confirmed for Xbox 360 and PC when Microsoft signed on to publish in 2006, with the company recently specifying a "spring 2010" release for the Xbox 360 edition.
"We're focusing all our efforts on the 360 version and will be making comments in regards to the PC at a later in time," Remedy rep Markus wrote on the studio's boards.

The flashlight required the player to finish the foes off with a gun, while the flare gun and the resulting bloom took care of two foes standing next to each other.
The studio has yet to say when the project will be released, though it was first unveiled in 2005. Upon its eventual arrival, Microsoft will publish.
"We're working hard on Alan Wake and want to make sure it meets and exceeds the awesome potential," Remedy managing director Matias Myllyrinne noted today. "It's still time to focus and we won't be doing constant updates on the progress."
"Naturally, we'll be happy to share and show more about Alan Wake when we have the next live showing of the game," added Myllyrinne.

VG247 confirmed that a new trailer from developer Remedy is on the way and will premiere in the studio's native Finland on October 15. The trailer was reportedly made by the team in celebration of the coming release of the Max Payne movie. Remedy also developed the shooter now heading to Hollywood.
Remedy also revealed that its mysterious new 360 and PC game is taking long because "it's a small team and building an open world game is very tough." To help, Remedy is calling upon its resources from Max Payne publisher Rockstar, including voice director Navid Khonsari.
A release date for the game, in development since early 2005, has not been given, but Remedy CFO Mika Reini said in August, "we're still here and working hard on getting Alan Wake for you to enjoy."
