[Update: 5:40] Valve has told Shacknews that Portal 2 will hit North America and Australia on April 20 and on April 22 in Europe.

The original press release noted the game would be pushed to "the week of April 18," when contacted a Valve represented clarified the actual dates, adding: "We say the week of April 18 because it will be different days depending on where you live, due to retailer "new release" days." Valve says more release dates and info will be released as we get closer to launch.

[Original Story:] Moments ago, Valve announced its upcoming FPS-puzzle title Portal 2 has been delayed. Wait. Stop punching your monitor! It's not a huge delay.

Portal 2 will now launch during "the week of April 18." Previously the game was delayed to February. "This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time," the press release from Valve said. "Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date."

Sure, delays stink... but a few months? Is that really going to hurt anyone? Wait. Yeah, my heart just stopped. Thanks, Valve. The short--and hilarious--press release can be read after the break.

VALVE ANNOUNCES SHORTEST DELAY IN VALVE HISTORY

Valve today announced that Portal 2 -- the sequel to the ground-breaking title that won over 30 game of the year awards, despite missing its original ship date -- will now be available the week of April 18th, 2011. This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date.

"...it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time"

LOL, nice save Valve, but now you should be required to reveal if Episode 3/Half-Life 3 is in development or not.

If they released Half-Life 3 they would go out of business because they would never be able to top it... that's probably why it will never be released.

I would be happy if they even decided to make an announcement that they might probably, maybe, possibly might be working on maybe Episode 3.

They have. They've showed concept art and said they are working on "Half-Life". There will be a conclusion, the question is when and in what form (Episode 3 or Half-Life 3).

As everyone boots up Portal 2, they'll be greeted with a choice of Half-Life 3 or Portal 2.

I would weep. I would literally weep.
