Your undying dream of a dedicated combat helicopter game has finally come true as Activision has announced Apache: Air Assault for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Developed by Gaijin Entertainment--otherwise known as the team behind IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey--Apache: Air Assault will fly into stores this fall.

Apache: Air Assault features "more than 16 multi-stage missions," in varying locales around the world, including Africa, Middle East and Central America. "Apache: Air Assault offers fun for diehard military enthusiasts and flight sim fans as well as gamers who just want to blow stuff up," Activision's David Oxford said.

The game is set to feature an arcade and realistic mode to suit player tastes and online multiplayer, as well as local co-op mode where two players take command of one heavily armed combat helicopter.

woah woah, let's call them birds of prey developers. not il-2 developers. birds of prey was a nice game, but nothing like the proper il-2.

these are also the people that run the yuplay.com download service. very nice site to buy russian games (both in english and russian) from pretty much all russian publishers
