Microsoft Giving 7 Days of Xbox Live to First Day MW2 DLC Purchasers

The release of the downloadable 'Stimulus Package' add-on for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 crippled Xbox Live for hours, keeping Xbox 360 gamers offline and unable to play his or her new maps in Infinity Ward's popular shooting game.

To make up for this, Microsoft is giving 7 free days of Xbox Live Gold to any subscriber that purchased the 'Stimulus Package' on March 30. The credited time will be added by May 1, according to user reports sent in to Kotaku and Microsoft itself.

"To thank you for your loyalty to Xbox LIVE and for buying the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus package on day 1, we will extend your Gold membership for 7 more days of adrenaline-pumping action with your friends on LIVE. Your account will be updated by May 1."

The 'Stimulus Package' is the first of two Xbox 360 timed-exclusive DLC map packs for Modern Warfare 2, carrying a price of $15 or 1200 Microsoft Points. It includes 5 maps, two of which are remakes from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Damn, this must hurt Microsoft so bad. I don't mean financially OBVIOUSLY but considering they nickel and dime every god damn thing it must hurt their bottom dollar corporate mentality.

What's 7 days of XBL Gold worth, bit under a dollar? Beats a kick in the balls I guess

        $1.89 to be exact!

        (providing the month is 30 days, it's $1.82 if it's a 31 day month!)

but doesn't it make you feel warm and fuzzy you have 7 free days?

Since most people get the 12 month cards and assuming you're dumb enough to pay full price of $50, then 7 days is $0.96.
