In 1994, Battlefield series and Mirror's Edge developer DICE was a single bug away from finishing a SEGA Genesis game called Hardcore when it was abruptly canceled by publisher Psygnosis along with 12 other games.

DICE co-founders Andreas Axelsson and Olof Gustafsson showed off footage of Hardcore at DATASTORM 2010, which can be seen below.

DICE would like to release the game to the public domain, but the rights are owned by Sony. The game looks incredible for 1994 and for the time, would have definitely done what Ninten-didn't. Hopefully, we'll be able to play it someday. Thanks, Joystiq!
