Modern Warfare 2 DLC Details Due Soon as Game Accumulates 25 Million Players

Emerging like a phoenix from last week's craziness, Infinity Ward's Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling is back on Twitter with an update wholly-focused on Modern Warfare 2:

...annnd we JUST hit 25 MILLION unique players on Modern Warfare 2. Insanity! Also, got a lot of #MW2 DLC details coming this week! FINALLY!

Infinity Ward is still working on two DLC map packs for Modern Warfare 2, according to publisher Activision's plans for the Call of Duty franchise. The packs will hit Xbox 360 first, and then emerge on other platformers after an unrevealed amount of time.

As for the 25 million users figure, Bowling clarified that the number includes the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions. Players must be connected to Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, or be connected to the Internet on the PC to be counted.

The Xbox 360 has the most unique players with the PlayStation 3 in second place, Bowling added, though specific numbers were not detailed.

And there really is no point on buying it if you're on PC. The multiplayer is thoroughly broken and good luck getting into a game without at least one hacker.

That's why all the PC gamers that I know that would've played this game are on BFBC2. When I look at my Xfire and Steam friends lists, for military shooters, it's all BFBC2.

Shiaaat, I'm just waiting for BC2 to go on sale (individual price) before I take the plunge myself.

The hackers running around with impunity are a serious problem, but "thoroughly broken" ? It works fine to me, even though the quality of the games vary with the host.
