Firming up the initial "around the end of this year" estimate, developer PopCap now expects the iPhone and iPod touch iteration of its sodding strategy game Plants vs. Zombies to make its way into the iTunes App Store in late January.

PopCap revealed the revised release estimate on its Facebook page, whilst noting that a selection of other PopCap iPhone titles--Bookworm, Peggle, and Chuzzle--will be temporarily marked down to $1.99 until January 4.

The tower lawn defense force game stumbled onto PC earlier this year, with a demo on FileShack. A downloadable Xbox 360 version is also in the works.

I'm still astounded that no WiiWare and/or DS port--whether as DSiWare or a cartridge--have been announced. Those seem like obvious platforms for PvZ ports, more so than Xbox 360, certainly.
