Evening Reading: Waggles Wobble On

During the question and answer section of an investors call today Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed plans to support both Natal and Sony's unnamed wand motion controller for PS3 with a number of titles. He said that Ubi planned to release around ten games specifically for Natal during its first six months post release and something like half that many for the PS3 motion control system.

We've all seen the success of the Wii and plenty of that can be attributed to its controls. But how far do we really want to go with this whole getting up and dancing around in front of the TV thing. I'm not ready to just accept that it's the next big thing. Look at Tony Hawk Ride. Here's a well recognized franchise that now gets the skateboard controller many already probably imagined playing the game with and it's not a big hit. It doesn't seem to be setting sales figures on fire and neither has it won critical acclaim. And while there's definitely truth to the notion that maybe there's been one too many Tony Hawk games already, the success of Skate and all those other Hawk games tells me that there's a lot of people out there who also just aren't so excited about flopping around their living room to play a game.

And if none of that interests you, check out:

I've never been to a Broadway show but Christopher Walken doing a play titled "A Behanding in Spokane" sounds potentially full of win.

Heh, got me thinking of the "Clockwork Orange Controller" comment from Idle Thumbs. I forget what episode it was, but they mentioned that along with Natal, the Tony Hawk skateboard controller, and the WiiMote. Video-GAAAAAAMES!!!

Not strictly videogames, but Drunk Tank by the Rooster Teeth guys is pretty funny.
