Originally founded in 1989 by Steve Harris, EGM was discontinued by owner Ziff Davis just prior to UGO's January acquisition of the 1UP Network.

Harris is now planning to bring the magazine back in the second half of 2009, promising more announcements on EGM's new website during E3.
