450 People Are Working on Assassin's Creed 2

Ubisoft is putting a tremendous amount of resources behind the development of its sequel to 2007's popular open-world wetworker Assassins' Creed.

According to Ubisoft producer Sebastien Puel, the Assassin's Creed 2 team has now ballooned to the size of a small army, with 450 employees devoted to the single title.

"The team's size for the second title of Assassin's Creed 2 is about three times the size of the team of the first game," said Puel to Nowgamer. Or, put another way, it is 225 times the size of the World of Goo team.

Puel noted that the team had "thousands of ideas" that they couldn't fit into the original game, but which are now being incorporated into the sequel.

Assassin's Creed 2, set to take place in the renaissance era, is scheduled for a holiday release this year on "all current-generation platforms."

    What the hell....

Then again dev time for the 2nd is half or a third of the dev time for the first.

I'd imagine. QA must be a nightmare as well. Unless everything is very compartmentalized, I don't see how this will to anything other than a mishmash of ideas.
